Brunei inaugurates South-East Asia’s first net-zero shrimp aquaculture and AI integration hub
On July 7, 2025, Brunei inaugurated South-East Asia’s first net-zero emission shrimp aquaculture base and AI hub, a collaboration between Jets Sdn Bhd and DABANC Group. The facility combines solar-powered aquaculture with AI-driven management for sustainable shrimp farming, advancing green economy and food security in ASEAN.
DABANC Group has officially inaugurated South-East Asia's first net-zero emission shrimp aquaculture base and AI integration hub in Brunei on July 7, 2025. The groundbreaking facility, developed in partnership with Jets Sdn Bhd, a leading aquaculture company, marks a significant milestone in the integration of sustainable aquaculture practices and AI-driven technologies in the region.
The inauguration event, which took place in Bandar Seri Begawan, was attended by prominent figures including Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Mohd Amin Liew Abdullah, Minister at the Prime Minister’s Office and Minister of Finance & Economy II, and Dato Seri Setia Dr Awang Abdul Manaf Metussin, Minister of Primary Resources and Tourism. The project represents a pioneering convergence of solar-powered shrimp farming, next-generation blue shrimp breeding, and cutting-edge AI-based management systems.
The facility is powered entirely by renewable energy, aligning with DABANC's commitment to sustainability. It features innovative AI-driven technologies such as intelligent water quality monitoring, disease prediction, and production optimization, ensuring that the aquaculture operation runs with a zero-carbon footprint. The new hub will also serve as a regional center for technological innovation and talent development, fostering collaboration across the ASEAN region.
